How to make a challenge

1. Check both statuses: Your status shows whether you can challenge or be challenged. Ask club staff to confirm.
2. Pick an eligible opponent: Choose a player ranked above you in the same tier, no more than 3 ranks away. Both players must be eligible by status.
3. Make it official: Ask club staff to record the challenge before you play.
4. Defender response: The defender has 48 hours to accept. If they do not respond and have not used a monthly pass, club staff may record a forfeit.
5. Play and report: Once accepted, play within 7 days and send the scores to club staff.

Eligibility and timing

1. One active challenge: A ranked player may be involved in only one open challenge at a time, as challenger or defender.
2. Monthly pass: A defender may use one pass each month without losing rank. Club staff must record it before the response deadline, and challenges are then paused for 72 hours.
3. Missed deadlines: If the defender does not respond, club staff may record a forfeit. If the match is not played by the deadline, staff will review scheduling attempts and decide what happens.
4. Post-result timers: A challenge winner is protected for 72 hours; the non-winner cools down for 72 hours.

Swing Partner Swap format

1. Two doubles matches: Each ranked player brings a swing partner. The ranked players remain opponents for two doubles matches, and swing partners swap between matches.
2. Challenge winner: Win both matches to win the challenge. If split, compare total games won, then total point differential; an exact tie favors the defender.
3. Rank movement: If the challenger wins, the ranked challenger and defender swap ranks. A defender win leaves ranks unchanged. Swing partners never move.

Help from club staff

1. Vacation and reinstatement: Club staff manages vacation status and reinstatement. Returning players may need to play a reinstatement match before joining challenges again.
2. Disputes and enforcement: Club staff resolves disputes and applies the ladder rules for deadlines, passes, forfeits, and results.
